CHURCH COMMITTEES

There are numerous church committees available for you to volunteer with. Below is a brief overview of each committee! To join one, just contact the church leaders or committee heads listed in our directory.

FINANCE COMMITTEE

Committee Chair: Jared Barkley

The Finance Committee helps support the mission and ministry of the church by being good stewards of its financial resources. This team works behind the scenes to create and manage the church budgettrack giving and expenses, and offer financial guidance to church leadership. They also help plan for the future by supporting stewardship efforts and ensuring funds are used faithfully and responsibly. It’s all about making sure the church can continue doing God’s work—today and for years to come.

PLANNING COMMITTEE

Committee Chair: Scott Heafner

The purpose of this committee is to assess the long-term needs of the church, considering both cost and feasibility. This includes evaluating physical items or various ministries aimed at serving the Body of Christ.

WORSHIP & MUSIC COMMITTEE

Committee Chair: Justin Cloninger

Organist: Elisha Mitschke-Lamanna

The Worship & Music Committee assesses the needs and processes of both Sunday Worship and Festival Worship services. This group discusses necessary adjustments, volunteer responsibilities for the services, and music choices. The committee's aim is to ensure that our worship services are respectful, Biblically and Liturgically relevant, and meaningful for our congregants, visitors, and the wider community.

Hymn Selection Committee - a team of volunteers that convenes every 2 to 3 months to curate hymns for all worship services. These selections are thoughtfully made, taking into account the church season and weekly scriptures, ensuring that the hymns complement the Bible verses for each service.

OUTSIDE PROPERTY / CEMETERY COMMITTEE

Committee Chair: Alex Secrest

The Outdoor Property/Cemetery Committee oversees the repair, maintenance, and protection of the outdoor property of the congregation by providing recommendations to the council/congregation to prevent major issues that may arise relating to the outside property. This committee also makes sure the outdoor facilities are being utilized properly and recommends changes as needed.

INSIDE PROPERTY COMMITTEE

Committee Chair: Mark Robinson

The Inside Property Committee is responsible for overseeing the repair, maintenance, and protection of all interior church property. This includes ensuring timely and appropriate responses to maintenance needs, identifying potential issues, and recommending proactive solutions to prevent future problems. The committee shall regularly inform the Congregational Council and the congregation of the current condition and needs of the interior facilities. Additionally, the committee is tasked with promoting the proper and effective use of the church's interior spaces, proposing changes or improvements as necessary, and encouraging the development of a long-term financial plan for major repairs and maintenance. This includes forecasting future needs and recommending strategies for securing appropriate funding in advance.

PARISH EDUCATION COMMITTEE

Committee Chair: Sandy Kennedy

The Parish Education committee at St. Paul’s is responsible for promoting the Sunday school ministry within the congregation and ensuring that teachers are equipped with curriculum and other materials. In addition, committee members assist with Vacation Bible School coordination and other St. Paul’s faith formation ministries, such as Pastor’s Scholars, Confirmation, and First Communion. This committee could not function without all of the wonderful leaders and teachers within St. Paul’s. 

YOUTH COMMITTEE

Committee Chair: Katie Crocker

The purpose of this committee is to support the youth of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church as well as the youth leaders. This involves collaborating with youth leaders to plan out youth events and meetings to engage our youth along their Christian journey. Along with collaboration with youth leaders, the committee strives to instill in our youth to become contributors of our church service as well as other volunteer opportunities that are planned. The main goal of this committee is to develop Christ Centered Youth!!

EVANGELISM COMMITTEE

Committee Chair: Dave Hoyle

The Evangelism Committee helps share the love, hope, and welcome of Christ with both our congregation and the wider community. From greeting visitors and spreading the word through social media and community events, to delivering home communion and offering pastoral care to our homebound members, this team is all about connection. We believe evangelism happens in everyday moments—through hospitality, service, and showing up for people with kindness and faith. Whether it’s a friendly invite, a caring visit, or a digital post, we’re here to make sure everyone feels God’s love.

HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE

Committee Chair: Scott Rubow

The Hospitality Committee at St. Paul’s is dedicated to creating a warm and welcoming environment for all who enter our doors. We coordinate fellowship events, provide meals and refreshments for gatherings, and support special church functions. Our team ensures that visitors and members feel at home, fostering a spirit of Christian hospitality through acts of kindness, service, and connection.

OUTDOOR MINISTRIES COMMITTEE

Committee Chair: Jason Crisp

The Outdoor Ministries Committee helps connect our church family with God’s creation through meaningful outdoor experiences. From organizing outdoor worship services and fellowship events to helping care for our church grounds, this team makes space for spiritual growth in the fresh air. A yearly highlight is our worship service at Lutheridge—a special time of praise, nature, and community that brings all ages together. Whether it’s planning a picnic or setting the scene for outdoor prayer, this committee helps us experience faith beyond the walls.

SOCIAL MINISTRY COMMITTEE

Committee Chair: Susan Lineberger

St. Paul's Social Ministries Committee actively identifies specific programs to address the needs of individuals and groups both within and outside the congregation.

The current ministries at St. Paul's include:

  • Dallas Christian Ministries
  • Lincolnton Soup Kitchen
  • Project Turkey
  • Relay for Life
  • Wednesday Monthly Devotion

The Social Ministries Committees are on the lookout for new members and creative ideas! These committees are committed to serving the community, tackling social justice issues, supporting those in need, and promoting positive change.
