Position Type: This is a Full Time, Exempt position. This position does require evening and weekend hours. Hours will vary with Friday and Saturday as the primary scheduled days off. Salary is based on experience and education, and competitive benefits are offered.
Supervisor: This position is directly responsible to the Pastor and the Church Council.
Position Description: The Director of Discipleship will be responsible for fostering lifelong faith formation across generations within the congregation. The Director will provide faith-filled leadership support for St. Paul’s fellowship, worship, ministries, and activity groups for all ages. This role involves creating a cohesive culture aligned with our faith and mission by collaborating with various ministry teams, including children, youth, young adults, women, men & senior adults.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Oversee and direct the Spirit, Middle School, and High School Youth Groups. Develop fellowship and service opportunities inside and outside of the church.
• Develop, with support, a comprehensive yearly calendar of events and inter-generational activities related to Faith Formation and Discipleship. Promote these events through various communication tools and platforms.
• Support the fellowship, ministries, and activity groups for all ages and assist members in identifying and using their talents and skills for ministry.
• Encourage and coordinate outreach opportunities and partnerships with other congregations and the community.
• Assist with the selection and implementation of Christian education materials including but not limited to, those for youth and adults, Vacation Bible School, and Confirmation.
• Administer and enforce the Child and Youth Abuse Prevention Program for St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Skills and Qualifications
• Show the spirit of Jesus Christ through an energetic, caring and positive manner.
• Knowledge of Lutheran theology, history, and practices preferred.
• Associate's degree or relevant experience preferred.
• Relates well to people of all ages with a proven ability to motivate and inspire others.
• Strong program planning and implementation skills.
• Demonstrates excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
• Able to maintain confidentiality of all church-related business both on and off the job.
